2009 STYLES IN PINK-IN RECOGNITION OF NATIONAL WOMEN'S HEALTH WEEK-MAY 9-16 2009

The theme for the STYLES IN PINK with TEA celebration for 2009 was to recognize NATIONAL WOMEN'S HEALTH WEEK (celebrated nationally from May 10-17. The NWH empowers women across the country to get healthy by taking action.  The nationwide initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health, encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer healthier and happier life. During the week, families, communities, businesses, government, health organizations and other groups work together to educate women about step they can take to improve their physical and mental health and prevent disease.

Courage Unlimited kicked off the weekly celebration the Saturday before Mother's day (May 9th) with a breast cancer awareness Pokeno Run for Bikers, followed by National Women's Check-Up Day and ending with our annual "Styles in Pink with Tea" conference with Paula Francis, news anchor at KLAS-TV, Channel 8 as the Mistress of Ceremony. Prizes and awards were given as a means of motivating them to take charge of their health.
