The Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering is not only a way to help out in your community; it's also a very good opportunity to discover a job that's just right for you. Think about what interests you most, or fits your personality. If you're still in high school or college and aren't sure of your career choice, volunteering is a great way to get exposure to different types of jobs. Some opportunities are even available helping a professional who can answer any questions you might have.

Courage Unlimited is always looking for people who want to make a difference in our community, and who want to improve the quality of life. Our volunteers range from adolescents to senior citizens, and each one of them has a unique role in servicing our consituents.

1. You increase your knowledge and skills that can be applied towards paid employment or other endeavors.

2. You can explore aspects of a career change or education in a specific area and learn skills that can assist you, your family and friends.

3. You help build a stronger community and form new friendships.

Volunteers and Staff Celebrate Grant Funding

Outreach and Program volunteers and staff proudly posed for pictures when presented with a check from the Clark County Parks and Community Services Small Projects Fund.  Funds were used to promote health education and ethnic pride in celebration of Black History Month. Teens competed for prizes in a poster contest where they selected a person in history and suggested how that person would have addressed today's health issues.

Mike DiBenedetto with Bonnie and Crystal

Mike believes in keeping it all in the family. He's the tireless Media/Public Relations Chair and his daughter Bonnie (First right) brought down the house at her performance for the "Celebration of Life" dinner on May 31, 2003 at the Retreat. 10-year old Bonnie has won several vocal competitions. Her sister, Crystal (second right) is always there supporting her family and assisting where she can.

Appreciating Our Volunteers

Linda Haley, Retreat Chair and Board Treasurer, visited our hard-working, dedicated volunteer Florence Rogers to present her with a "Gift of Hope" basket. Florence had recent surgery and will be off her feet for 4-6 months. Yet she is still fundraising from her bedside, sending letters to prospective sponsors. We really appreciate Florence's commitment to saving lives in our community.
