MS. FOUNDATION
The Ms. Foundation supports the efforts of women and girls to govern their own lives and influence the world around them. Through its leadership, expertise and financial support, the Foundation champions an equitable society by effecting change in public consciousness, law, philanthropy and social policy.Courage Unlimited, Inc HIV intervention and outreach program was granted funding for 3 years from the foundation.
The mission of HIPP is to increase HIV awareness and reduce HIV transmission among high-risk groups and improve HIV/AIDS care and support through evidence-based, advocacy-centered health education and risk reduction programs at individual, group and community levels. We have found our outreach efforts have improved with the bi-lingual communication of our outreach worker and an increase of single women, between 25-40 coming in on a regular basis for condoms and other HIV/AIDS information. It is imperative that we have bi-lingual personnel on staff. We have developed an on going relationship with Diversity Leadership Institute to continue awareness of HIV positive women in prison and increasing media coverage to support this effort.
